Why?
When using Carplay, the music player features are either redundant (like album art) or difficult to use for drivers. The new design, brings the music player in line with the Apple Maps companion screen for Carplay, supplementing the native in-dash player as a remote with larger buttons in a light motif (switching to dark at night) for easier use while driving, whether dash-mounted or handheld.
